Help Animals India has supported them for several years for rescue, ABC (animal birth control) and a visiting veterinarian. Help Animals India has also support the website of TVA. We provide free treatment for community dogs around Tibetan and Indian camps. Annually, on World Rabies Day, we offer free anti-rabies vaccines to both pet and community dogs. TCV School dogs are treated upon receiving calls, and for emergency cases like broken legs or hip fractures, we seek further treatment at PFA Mysore. Recently, at Sambota Tibetan School, we identified dogs that hadn't undergone ABC. We took 20 dogs to PFA Mysore for ABC, keeping them there for 3 days before bringing them back. The majority of the funding went for a fence to keep the shelter dogs safe from roaming around. Your continuous support for voiceless animals is truly appreciated in three grants received in 2023 - $400, $2000, $2401. |

In doing this, we are not just helping to advance the welfare of animals but also preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases and reducing incidences of human-animal conflict in this region. This year, we were fortunate to receive a grant for continuing to rebuild after the devastating earthquake in Jajarkot in late 2023. totaling $3508, which facilitated a collaboration with Animal Nepal to provide essential relief to animals. With this generous funding, we were able to assist over 173 households by providing vital relief materials, including high-quality tarpaulins, blankets, chokers, bran, salt, and necessary medications. Your support has been instrumental in alleviating the suffering of countless animals in need, and we are immensely grateful for the assistance you have provided. Together, we aspire to continue our efforts in aiding more animals in distress in the foreseeable future. 2. Received $9650 for support to save the lives of pigeons at the Gadhimal "festival" the temple management committee has estimated that around a million pigeons may be brought to the Gadhimai festival by devotees. These pigeons, including squabs and adult birds, are integral to their practices. However, squabs-being unable to fly-are particularly vulnerable and more likely to be captured. With this grant we are being able to shelter and care for over 4,000 squabs, providing them with the safety and nourishment needed to thrive. As they mature, our team of volunteers will monitor their progress and ensure they are eventually released to fly freely in the open sky. The pigeon house will serve as both a sanctuary and a symbol of compassionate practices, demonstrating that religious beliefs can be honored without animal or bird sacrifices. Regarding educational materials, we have been actively producing and distributing IEC resources as part of our awareness programs. Our efforts aim to encourage devotees to offer alternatives such as fruits, flowers, and coconuts instead of animals or birds for sacrifice. |

This has enabled us to continue to expand our street cat sterilisation programme and thereby reduce the number of abandoned, orphaned and injured street kittens. We have worked hard with our community feeders to promote our trap, neuter and return programme and as such they have been regularly bringing in cats that they care for to be sterilised. Being able to provide free sterilisation is a vital service in a country where, for many, the cost of sterilisation is well beyond their means. Despite setbacks due to outbreaks of parvo and FPV we have continued to provide the service when it has been safe to do so. We are grateful to have enough grant to be able to provide at least another 45 cats and we hope very much that a future grant will be awarded for this vitally important programme. We would like to thank Help Animals India for their unwavering support over the years. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc | 21 | STRAW India's Report on Humane Education Work in 2024 2024 has been a challenging yet rewarding year for all of us at STRAW India. Animals and the natural world in India continue to face issues like neglect, exploitation, and cruelty. To make a lasting difference, we believe in the power of Humane Education - instilling empathy & compassion for animals and an awareness in children to inspire them to become empathetic & compassionate citizens of tomorrow. STRAW India has thus focused on bringing this solution to life and bridging the gap with programs that equip young minds to care for animals and the environment, with kindness and responsibility. Given below is the work undertaken by STRAW India during 2024 Number of Children Taught about Empathy and Compassion for animals : 5400 Number of Compassionate Classroom Sessions : 74 In-Person Sessions : 58 Online Sessions : 16 No of Schools & Colleges : 27 Topics Explored & Taught School Children: Children were taught to live in harmony with stray / community animals; they also explored the challenges faced by stray animals, due to being abandoned, injuries, and neglect and were guided to take action when they see an animal in distress. College Students: These students participated in discussions about the plight of farm animals, learning about the cruelty they endured in the dairy, egg, and meat industries. These sessions encouraged them to reflect on their food choices and to consider adopting a vegan lifestyle to reduce the suffering of animals. Stories of Kindness Online Webinar Series: Our online web series engaged children with narratives about various kinds of animals, including wild animals, farm animals and even the smallest of creatures like earthworms, spiders, ants, etc., helping them to recognize the intrinsic value of all living beings. As part of our post-session activities, children painted water bowls for street dogs, created feeders for squirrels, participated in a "No Fireworks" poster campaign to spread awareness about the impact of loud noises on animals, and took part in the "Give Animals a Brake" campaign to promote careful driving to prevent road accidents involving animals and looking under vehicles before starting the vehicle. Through these initiatives, STRAW India continues to build a more compassionate generation, ensuring that students grow up with the awareness and empathy needed to make kinder choices for animals. |
