Reunion:The Reunion session was very unique situation. Four Veterans who served together in Afghanistan had attended a previous session. The session proved to be very therapeutic due to the commonalities. One of the Veterans lost his wife a few months earlier to cancer. His depression began to overpower him. It was suggested that we have the reunion session in an attempt to assist this Veteran with his grief and depression. We made a special allowance for this session and allowed spouses and children to attend hoping to help his 3 children deal with their grief as well. The Veteran and his children gained tremendous support while the rest of the group benefitted by helping one of their brothers through such a difficult time.$0$26,022
Fly Casting and Fly Tying Instruction & Fly Fishing Trips:The Fly Fishing Therapy Session encompasses all aspects of fly fishing with fly casting instruction, a fly tying class and workshop, education on river stewardship and the etymology of our region, and fly fishing trips on the beautiful rivers, lakes, and tributaries in Jackson Hole. This session provides the opportunity for each veteran to connect with nature in a very peaceful environment. The skill and art of casting a fly is mentally therapeutic for the veterans as well as requiring focus on the use of gross motor skills. The fly tying education encourages a deep level of focus and concentration as well as challenging fine motor skills.$0$24,572
Hunting Sessions:The Elk and Antelope Hunt Therapy Sessions are made possible through the use of Wyoming Statue 32-1-705 (k), which authorizes the holder of any valid big game license to surrender said license to the department for reissuance to a veteran with disabilities, as established by the commission rule and regulation, selected and sponsored by a nonprofit charitable organization providing hunting opportunities for disabled veterans. We are grateful to have landowners and locals who wish to donate their elk and antelope hunting tags to our disabled veterans, and a dedicated team of experienced guides and outfitters that ensure a memory of a lifetime. Additionally, the organization provides for the processing and shipping of meat from the hunt to the veterans and their family.$0$20,507
Photography Program:The goal of the photography session is to teach the veterans to view life from a different perspective and to open their mind to the beauty that surrounds them. The photography session encompasses many aspects of photography such as classroom instruction on exposure, lighting, night-time photography, and printing, etc. With the assistance of volunteer photography instructors, the veterans travel to various areas including Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park s to photograph nature, wildlife, mountains, rivers, sunrises, and sunsets. Near the end of the session, each of the veterans choose a few of their favorite photos to print, matte and take home.$0$18,680
