Activity 2

Education on core and emerging topics in the nonprofit field are offered through regularly scheduled classes and workshops. In 2012, Nonprofits First delivered 49 classes and workshops to over 682 nonprofit professionals. Our half-day and full-day workshops provide professionals with cost-effective opportunities to deepen and strengthen their knowledge and skills. Many of our workshops relate to and support the Nonprofits First Certification process, and all trainings advance the use of best practices. 96% of respondents report they gained new learning on the initial survey and 86% of respondents report they were applying that knowledge in the workplace 3 months later. Rising Leaders is a program for the nonprofit sectors current and emerging professionals. Rising Leaders participants become more skilled in their use of personal power; in creating, communicating, and sustaining a vision for their organization; and in diagnosing and taking steps to address major leadership and organizational challenges. In addition to participating in monthly education and retreat modules over a nine-month period, Rising Leaders have the opportunity to serve their community through service learning projects. 98% of Rising Leaders report learning new knowledge or skills in initial surveys, 92.8% of Rising Leaders' graduates report applying their knowledge to the workplace 3 months later and 75% of Rising Leaders' Supervisors report observing graduates apply new knowledge or skills in the workplace 3 months later

Activity 3

Certification designed to strengthen the operational capacity of nonprofit organizations. Achieving Certification allows a nonprofit organization to overcome administrative challenges, identify financial trends, and demonstrate accountability to funders and other stakeholders. The Certification process is based on a unified set of administrative standards meeting core federal, state, and local government, and funder requirements. These requirements include mandatory laws and regulationsin the areas of administration, board governance, human resources and volunteer management, risk management, and financial management. Compliance with standards is verified by subject matter experts in each area, offering third party confirmation of an organizations commitment to management excellence. In 2012, Nonprofits First Certified" more than 80 nonprofit organizations.
