“Conflict of interest policy: all directors, officers, staff members, advisory council members and/or volunteers are covered under the conflict of interest policy. Any person who knows that they have a conflict of interest has a duty to disclose it to the supervisor, board chair and committee chair before any decisions are made to proceed further in a contemplated contract/arrangement between the foundation and an outside business/organization. Once disclosed, the supervisor/board decides whether the conflict will affect pending foundation business. If it will, the person with the conflict shall not participate in the foundation's discussions/decision concerning the matter at hand. The person with the conflict shall not be part of any committee meetings which may make decisions concerning foundation business activities. After those particular discussions have occurred, and the decisions have been made, the individual may rejoin and participate as usual in activities. Each foundation director, staff member, advisory committee member, and volunteer shall receive a copy of the conflict of interest policy every year. Each person shall sign a statement saying they have received the policy, read it, and agree to abide by it.”

The hamels foundation is dedicated to building a primary school (grades 1-8) that will educate nearly 2,000 boys and girls in the mulanje district of malawi. The first step towards breaking the cycle of aids is education, as well as tending to basic needs such as shelter and food. Our goal is to provide the first step in improving the lives of thousands.”
