Transportation, but ensure the poorest families have enough rice to eat so the girls will not be taken out of school and put to work. In addition, some of the girls qualify for residential placement in protective housing. Gate also features a community-based participatory process of building child protection networks. Through engaging community volunteers and building culturally-relevant prevention programs, gate is able to further stem the tide of human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual abuse.

OUR PARTNERS WILL IDENTIFY 250 TARGET FARMERS WILLING TO ADOPT SCI (40% FEMALE); TRAIN 20 EXPERTS; TRAIN FARMERS IN SCI; PROVIDE TRIAL INPUTS (SEEDS, FERTILIZER); ORGANIZE FARMER-TO-FARMER LEARNING AND SHOWCASING EVENTS; PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO FARMERS; AND DOCUMENT PRACTICES AND LESSONS LEARNED. THE GATE PROGRAM CURRENTLY PROVIDES PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS. THE GRANT WILL ALSO PROVIDE FOOD SUPPORT TO 89 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE GATEWAYS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMAN EXTENSION OF GATE FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO GO ON TO HIGHER EDUCATION. LOTUS OUTREACH SPECIFICALLY TARGETS GIRLS WHO ARE VICTIMS OR VULNERABLE TO ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION AS A RESULT OF THEIR SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUSI.E., GIRLS WHO WOULD OTHERWISE NOT ATTEND OR REMAIN IN SCHOOL. THESE SCHOLARSHIPS NOT ONLY COVER THE INDIRECT COSTS OF EDUCATION SUCH AS MATERIALS, UNIFORMS, AND TRANSPORTATION, BUT ENSURE THE POOREST FAMILIES HAVE ENOUGH RICE TO EAT SO THE GIRLS WILL NOT BE TAKEN OUT OF SCHOOL AND PUT TO WORK. IN ADDITION, SOME OF THE GIRLS QUALIFY FOR RESIDENTIAL PLACEMENT IN PROTECTIVE HOUSING. GATE ALSO FEATURES A COMMUNITY-BASED PARTICIPATORY PROCESS OF BUILDING CHILD PROTECTION NETWORKS.
