“Child's path uses learning practices inspired by the reggio emilia approach - a project-based philosophy and creative curriculum that is flexible and emerges from children's ideas, thoughts, questions and observations. This philosophy and curriculum supports the belief that children are full of potential and that their natural curiosity will lead their learning. Children are encouraged to engage and work with their peers to achieve common goals and develop confidence as they learn at their own pace. Learning goals are based on each child's individual interests and the teachers serve as partners and collaborators. Learning is active and engaging, as opposed to rote and teacher driven. Reggio and creative curriculum-inspired learning views young children as individuals who are curious about their world and have the powerful potential to learn from all that surrounds them. Education, psychological and sociological influences are important factors to consider in understanding children and working to stimulate and enhance learning in appropriate ways. Resources are required to ensure the learning environment is warm, nurturing, healthy, safe, art-based, nature-inspired and flexible, as it promotes creativity, problem solving and engaged learning. Additionally, child's path utilizes conscious discipline, which is a social-emotional learning curriculum that is nationally recognized and evidence based. Conscious discipline assists children in cultivating conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, managing feelings and behaviors, building positive relationships and prevent bullying. Creating caring, cooperative classrooms teaches children to make healthy choices and builds authentic family partnerships. Child's path uses a peo for payroll purposes. Childs path is accredited through the national accreditation commission of the association for early learning leaders for our santa barbara center and moorings center. This accreditation holds childs path to the highest of quality and safety standards in early education. Only 17%, or 30/179, of the early education centers in southwest florida have achieved accredited status. Childs path continues to focus on retaining staff to ensure the delivery of a high-quality early learning programs. Teachers received trauma credentialing in 2021-2022 to ensure they were equipped with the necessary tools to assist children who are entering early learning program with increased delays in their social emotional levels. Additionally, significant support has been provided to teachers to ensure they are delivering high quality interactions aligned with the class tool (classroom learning assessment scoring). Research indicates that children who are enrolled in classrooms with high quality interactions receive a strong foundation that benefits their future academic success. Childs path continues to implement the conscious discipline curriculum which teaches children to identify their emotions, regulate them and solve social problems. Teachers model this program daily and continual training is provided to teachers to ensure the program is operated at its highest potential. In 2021-2022, childs path embarked on a multi-phase strategic planning process, the first phase of which consisted of a market study involving one-on-one interviews with existing and potential donors, as well as community and business leaders in collier county. The market study helped define a multi-facet strategic initiative (on the path to a brighter future) focused on building childs paths capacity beyond current enrollment to make safe, affordable, high-quality early childhood education available to more low-income working families and children in collier county. Future ready collier, a collaborative community endeavor, estimates that there are 4,000 children in collier county that lack access to safe, affordable, high-quality early childhood education due to financial or transportation issues.”
“Volunteers are an asset in our classrooms to provide one-on-one support to children or assist the teacher. Volunteers are instrumental in delivering story time, music, dance and art programs to the children in our four centers. Eight weeks of virtual art and music programs were conducted for 57 children. During 2021 2022 a collaborative relationship emerged between florida gulf coast university and childs path where enrolled children received play therapy from student clinicians enrolled in masters programs at fgcu. This program continues to evolve in 2022 2023. Volunteers also provide valuable services as members of our board of directors and committee members for our marketing & development, audit & finance, strategic planning & sustainability, governance & nominating and building & facilities committees. Childs path recruited three new members to the board of directors in 2021 - 2022 and continues to recruit additional service volunteers. During the 2021-2022 fiscal year, volunteers provided 638 hours of service valued at 18,566”
