Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Breakthrough miami uses a unique "students-teaching-students" model to create a rigorous, vibrant learning community, where highly motivated, under-resourced 5th-12th grade students are supported to achieve post- secondary success and emerging leaders are inspired to become the next generation of educators and advocates.

The mission of breakthrough miami is to inspire and encourage talented, motivated middle school students to enter and thrive in top college preparatory high school programs and graduate from college. The program is equally focused on promoting careers in education for the outstanding high school and college students who teach, tutor, and mentor in breakthrough miami's summer institute and school year program.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization has adopted the provisions of asc no 740, "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes" ("asc no 740"). Asc 740 required that the impact of tax positions to be recognized in the financial statements if they are more likely than not of being sustained upon examination. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is made in the financial statements. At 9/30/20, there were no uncertain tax positions. The organization files tax returns with us federal and other tax authorities for which statue limitations may go back to the year ended 2017.
