Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

The ceo and board members will examine this return, including accompanying schedules and statements prior to filing the return.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

The policy is reviewed and discussed by the board at the agm, after which all board members sign a written acknowledgment affirming receipt of the policy and disclosing any actual or potential conflicts of interest. Employees are required to complete a conflict of interest disclosure form twice annually, identifying any actual or potential conflicts, which are reviewed and addressed in accordance with the policy.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

The process for determining ceos compensation involved the board of directors, who are considered independent persons, looking at executive pay at similiar organizations and evaluating whether program performance goals were met. The board of directors voted on the ceos salary after considering these factors.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Breakthrough miami uses a unique "students-teaching-students" model to create a rigorous, vibrant learning community, where highly motivated, under-resourced 5th-12th grade students are supported to achieve post- secondary success and emerging leaders are inspired to become the next generation of educators and advocates.

Form 990

Breakthrough miami transitioned to a new fiscal year in april 2023, changing from a fiscal year beginning october 1 and ending september 30 to a fiscal year beginning april 1 and ending march 31. As a result of this change, form 990 was filed for the fiscal year ended september 30, 2023, followed by a short-period form 990 covering the six- month period ended march 31, 2024. Accordingly, the prior-year amounts reported in part i of page 1 reflect only a six-month period. The current and future form 990's will reflect a full 12-month reporting period in accordance with the new fiscal year.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Breakthrough miami impacts 2,000 young people each year, including more than 1600 5th-12th graders on an 8-year scholar journey, 144 teaching fellows serving in a paid summer leadership internship, and 600 volunteers across seven sites. Breakthrough's model is proven to support youth to thrive academically and develop as leaders. More than 90% of breakthrough scholars take advanced courses by 11th grade, 100% graduate from high school on time, and 98% enroll immediately in college. Breakthrough scholars are outperforming their peers in college persistence (86%) and degree attainment (70%). A robust americorps program, breakthrough has grown to support 154 members serving as teaching fellows and success coaches, and is now one of the largest partners in florida. Breakthrough miami was honored as the 2023 program of the year by the children's trust, recognizing outstanding excellence in youth development. Building on 33 years of experience. Breakthrough miami is actively expanding to serve more students and families in south florida.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

The organization has adopted the provisions of asc no 740, "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes" ("asc no 740"). Asc 740 required that the impact of tax positions to be recognized in the financial statements if they are more likely than not of being sustained upon examination. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is made in the financial statements. At 3/31/25, there were no uncertain tax positions. The organization files tax returns with us federal and other tax authorities for which statue limitations may go back to the year ended 2022.
