Mission

Advocate for healthy and compassionate food choices for everyone, with a focus on those with the fewest resources.

Engaging in public education and corporate campaigns, as well as community outreach, to promote food justice. Programs address spotlighting the abuse of animals on farms, the depletion of natural resources, unfair working conditions for produce workers, and the unavailability of healthy foods in low-income areas.

As part of our work advocating for access to healthy foods in communities of color and low-income communities, we launched our report on our assessment of the availability of healthy foods in Vallejo, CA (in English and Spanish). We also coordinated a Vallejo Healthy Food Fest where we launched our report and provided vegan food for free, as well as had speakers and performers. Additionally, we launched our on-line petition against Safeway for putting restrictive deeds on their former properties preventing grocery stores from moving in. Conducted outreach in front of a local chicken slaughterhouse encouraging people to have compassion for animals and go vegan. Provided a list (available online and through a free mobile app), updated monthly, that indexes chocolate companies that we do and do not recommend based on self-reported country of origin supplies of chocolate/cacao. The list is available in English, Spanish, and German. Organized a protest in front of the State Agency responsible for impacting the education of the children of farm workers. Held our annual school supply drive for the children of farm workers in the Bay Area. Items distributed include, but are not limited to, backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, and pens. Delivered hundreds of school supplies to more than 300 children of farm workers. Participated in numerous interviews, talks and podcasts.$0$81,657
