Additional Explanations

Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center in Nepal:BTFCC is perhaps the only healthcare center in Nepal to have all-electronic patient scheduling and health record system. BTFCC features state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, ultrasound, and other machinery to provide high-quality care to our patients. The establishment of BTFCC comes at a time when Nepal and the rest of South Asia is experiencing a surging burden of noncommunicable diseases such as cancer. Being a developing country, oncology in Nepal is currently in its infancy. With little access to care, mortality rates due to cancer in the area are disproportionately higher than in developed countries. The Cancer Index lists Nepals cancer incidence as 141.6 per 100,000 population with a high mortality rate. Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center in Nepal:We know cancer incidence is likely much higher, due to the countrys poor reporting tools and significant lack of infrastructure. The Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center will be a step toward changing the culture of healthcare in Nepal. Along with providing cancer care services, itll also serve as a hub for research and education. Continuing Education for Healthcare Providers:ASH (American Society of Hematology) Review is a cancer conference designed to educate doctors who treat blood cancers and other blood disorders about the most recent research and treatment available for those patients. This conference focuses on research data that was presented at theAmerican Society of Hematology Annual Meeting which is held every December.Tumor Boards & Virtual Meetings are similar to conferences but they are designed to help cancer doctors manage complex cancer patients. A group of doctors from different specialties(such as surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, etc.) meet to discuss complex cancer cases and make treatment recommendations as a team based on latest evidence. Continuing Education for Healthcare Providers:The Summits on National and Global Cancer Health Disparities (SCHD20): They are designed to educate healthcare providers about various factors that contribute to disparities in cancer care, and to advocate for better access to care by bringing together important stakeholders in healthcare delivery to discuss and debate issues related to access to care. These summits are accredited for continuing education credits for physicians and other healthcare providers. The International Conferences on Advances in Hematology and Oncology (ICOHO): These are annual healthcare provider and educational conferences providing continuing medical education for healthcare providers.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Continuing Education for Healthcare Providers:The Binaytara Foundation organizes some of the largest cancer conferences in the pacific northwest with the goal of improving the care of cancer patients by educating healthcare providers. As COVID-19 pandemic hit and our in-person education activities got cancelled, we continued our educational efforts virtually. Through our partnership with accredited providers and cancer experts, we provided over 60 hours of accredited and non-accredited education to nearly 500 healthcare providers in the United States and other parts of the world during this fiscal year. The Binaytara Foundation is accredited by the California Board of registered Nursing to provide continuing education for nurses. We recently received accreditation from the Washington State Medical Association to provide continuing education for physicians.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Project ACCESS (Advancing Cancer Care for the Economically and Socially Stressed) is the Organizations patient focused project that includes a broad range of activities such as in-person or virtual cancer patient education (NWCS - The Northwest Cancer Summit), cancer screening & awareness, and cancer patient advocacy and outreach. Electronic Health Record:The Binaytara Foundation is developing an electronic health record, or EHR, tailored to the healthcare needs and infrastructure of South Asian countries. The project involves the development of a web-based EHR, implementation, and ongoing maintenance. The goal is to improve the quality of life of residents in this region by aiding healthcare providers in clinical decision making, improving adherence to treatment by tracking follow-ups and utilization of services, and collecting important health data to be used to improve care and services. Once developed, the EHR system will be implemented as a pilot program at outpatient clinics in Nepal, India, and Bhutan where the Binaytara Foundation has existing healthcare projects. These projects include establishing cancer services, and expanding hospice and palliative care programs. One-year Internship Program:Binaytara Foundation also has a one-year internship program that provides hands-on experience and education for students/new graduates of health professions who are interested in global health and health disparities.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center in Nepal:BTFCC is perhaps the only healthcare center in Nepal to have all-electronic patient scheduling and health record system.
