Inside out - The Inside-Out Program is a community based program for students who have received an Out of School Suspension. The Inside-Out Program partners with other local agencies in the community to provide meaningful service-$81,586
based activities designed to challenge participants to learn new skills. We learn different approaches to solving life's problems, how to resolve conflicts, how to change a bad habit, and how to improve problem solving skills.--

Pt III, Line 31

Inside out - continued: character into a more positive, self-aware individual. From tending a garden that will help feed our community to providing firewood for those who are unable to do it themselves participation in the inside-out program will not only help you become a better person, but will change the lives of those who are less fortunate. The inside-out program leaves students with the skills to better understand themselves, their family, and their community. Students learn how to set and achieve personal goals. They identify positive and negative influences in their life and how they affect decision making.through are partnership with the school of alternatives in jackson county students are able to earn back their suspension days and not have them be unexcused absences.hights served 30 kids with our inside out program during the 2017 calendar year in jackson county.

Pt III, Line 31

Compass - compass is a four-month community based program for students who need a little extra guidance in their direction and decision making. It is designed to help students and their families identify changes they need to make, and help make a simple plan to apply those changes. The compass program partners with western carolina university to provide weekly adventure based activities led by recreation therapy students to challenge participants and learn new skills. Compass participants have a monthly big adventure that includes hiking, zip lining, whitewater rafting, caving or lake kayaking. The compass program leaves students with the skills to better understand themselves, their family, and their community. Students learn how to set and achieve personal goals. They identify positive and negative influences in their life and how they affect decision making.the compass program served 38 students from haywood and jackson counties in the 2017 calendar year.

School Enrichment - Through a partnership with The Jackson County School of Alternatives Hights is able to lead adventure and service based field trips for day-treatment therapy classrooms in Haywood and Jackson Counties. These field trips follow the guidelines of our other programs that include goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution and breaking bad habits.
