IRS990/Desc0AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM TO INSPIRE YOUTH TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL THROUGH EDUCATION AND REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES. TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT STUDENTS ARE ON TRACK, IM PROGRAMMING INCLUDES: MONITORING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, OFFERING TUTORING/INTERVENTIONS FOR STUDENTS STRUGGLING IN ONE OR MORE SUBJECTS, AND TAKING STUDENTS ON COLLEGE AND COLLEGE-RELATED VISITS TO IGNITE EXCITEMENT FOR THEIR FUTURE. DURING THE 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR, IM WAS ABLE TO ACCEPT THE GREATEST NUMBER OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS SINCE THE PROGRAM BEGAN. IM ALSO MAINTAINED THE 3RD-8TH GRADE ENROLLMENT IN AFTERSCHOOL AND WAS IN TWO OF THE FOUR K-8 WARREN CITY SCHOOLS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. APPROXIMATELY 50 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND 150 K-8 STUDENTS BENEFITED FROM THE PROGRAM IN WARREN. YOUNGSTOWN SPLIT OUT INTO THEIR OWN SEPARATE NON-PROFIT ENTITY IN MARCH 2018.IN THE TIME PERIOD OF JULY TO DECEMBER 2018, 280 HOURS OF TUTORING HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO 29 STUDENTS IN THE SUBJECTS OF MATH, SCIENCE, ENGLISH, HISTORY, AND CHEMISTRY. DURING THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM STUDENTS USE PROGRESSBOOK, A CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT SOLUTION THAT INTEGRATES GRADE BOOK, LESSON PLAN DEVELOPMENT, ATTENDANCE, SPECIAL EDUCATION, AND PARENT COMMUNICATION INTO ONE COMPREHENSIVE, WEB-BASED SYSTEM, TO REVIEW THEIR GPA, ASSIGNMENTS AND ATTENDANCE WHICH IS THEN CHECKED BY IM STAFF. ANY STUDENT WITH GRADES OF D OR F ARE FLAGGED TO RECEIVE TUTORING. IM MENTORS ALSO REINFORCE WITH THE STUDENTS THE CONCEPT OF STAYING ON TARGET WITH ACADEMICS. IM STAFF HAS BUILT A RELATIONSHIP WITH WARREN G. HARDING HIGH SCHOOL AND IS ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN STUDENTS INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM (IEP) MEETINGS ALONG WITH PARENTS TO HELP MAKE SURE THAT STUDENTS SUCCEED. IM CURRENTLY HAS FIVE (5) STUDENTS WHO HAVE IEPS. IM ALSO ENCOURAGES PARENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES. IM STUDENTS ACHIEVED A 2.933 GPA AVERAGE, WHICH REFLECTS THROUGH 1Q REPORT CARDS. ALL ARE ON TRACK TO PROMOTE TO THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL OR GRADUATE.THIS PAST FALL, 31 STUDENTS TOOK A TRIP TO NORTH CAROLINA/RALEIGH-DURHAM, WHERE THEY VISITED DUKE UNIVERSITY, PARTICIPATED IN A PANEL WITH THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS (NSBE), DID A WIRING WITH WOMEN LAB ACTIVITY, TOURED THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE UNIVERSITY, AND NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY.IN SUMMER OF 2018, IM INTRODUCED AN EXTENSION TO THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IN RESPONSE TO THE NEEDS OF RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES CALLED THE SUMMER CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (SCDP). THIS PROGRAM UTILIZED PARTNERSHIPS WITH IM, CITY OF WARREN, WARREN CITY SCHOOLS, AND EASTERN OHIO EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP TO CAPITALIZE ON WHAT EACH ENTITY DOES BEST AND CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN OUR REGION. THE GROUP ENGAGED OTHER STAKEHOLDERS SUCH AS CITIZENS OF THE COMMUNITY, BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY LEADERS, LAWMAKERS AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, KENT STATE UNIVERSITY TRUMBULL, AND FUNDERS TO WORK COLLECTIVELY. SCDP BRINGS COLLEGE-GOING STUDENTS AND YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE ON A SUCCESS TRACK BACK TO THE CITY FOR SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITIES. ALTHOUGH THE REALITY OF THE BRAIN DRAIN FROM WARREN, OH, IS OFTEN TALKED ABOUT, THERE HAS YET TO BE AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO ADDRESS IT. ALL STAKEHOLDERS HAVE AN EQUAL AND VALUABLE ROLE IN THE PROCESS, AS WELL AS GREATLY STANDING TO BENEFIT FROM ITS SUCCESS. NOT ONLY DID YOUNG ADULTS RECEIVE JOB PLACEMENT, BUT IT WAS TO THE GREATEST EXTENT POSSIBLE FIELDS/ROLES IN WHICH THEY ARE INTERESTED. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING MEANINGFUL JOB OPPORTUNITIES, SCDP OFFERED 3 ROUNDTABLES THAT FOCUSED ON EDUCATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP. NETWORKING AND TRAINING SESSIONS WERE HELD TO SUPPORT THE WORKFORCE EXPERIENCE, AS WELL. TOPICS COVERED INCLUDED: BRAND MANAGEMENT, BUSINESS ETIQUETTE, NETWORKING, DRESS FOR SUCCESS, CORPORATE WORKSHOP, CULTURE JAM, AND A LINKEDIN DEVELOPMENT SESSION. IM ACCEPTED 26 STUDENTS INTO THE PROGRAM AND PLACED 19 STUDENTS IN POSITIONS.THIS PROGRAM WAS ALSO SUPPORTED DURING 2018 BY IN K
