Sunshine's mission is to create community among people with developmental disabilities, their families, friends and staff. We do this by offering services that enable all of us to build relationships that enhance our lives through mutual caring and growth.

“A related organization, sunshine foundation, inc., holds the endowment funds and uses the money generated to further the exempt purpose of sunshine communities.”

PART X, LINE 2:

“Management of sunshine communities is required to determine whether a tax position of the organization is more likely than not to be sustained upon examination by the applicable taxing authority, including resolution of any related appeals or litigation processes, based on the technical merits of the position. Management of the organization is not aware of any tax positions for which it is reasonably possible that the total amounts of unrecognized tax benefits will significantly change in the next twelve months. However, management's conclusions may be subject to review and adjustment at a later date based on factors including, but not limited to, new tax laws, regulations, and administrative interpretations (including relevant court decisions). The organization's federal tax returns for the prior three fiscal years remain subject to examination by the internal revenue service.”
