“The vulnerable girls initiative has been established to support those young girls and young women in mukuru kwa njenga slum who face the most difficult of circumstances. Statistically, they are known to have the highest drop out rates from school due to pressue from home to help out, lack of sanitary pads for their menstrual cycles during school, peer pressure for sexual activity and an estimated teen pregnancy rate of 1 out of 4 girls. These young girls and women who face high poverty levels are challenged to proceed with their education and not end up engaging in prostitution and other degrading endeavors to make ends meet. The vulnerable girls initiative supports these young girls and young women in their neediest of times and guides them through their most difficult of circumstances.”
