Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, line 2

Scholar Program services, previously heavily focused on Academic Leadership Academy and University Study Abroad, is beginning to shift more to Career Development. There was not as significant of a shift in 2018 as there will be in 2019. Also restarted B2R Services to increase new business development. This, again, will be more evident in 2019. Finally added B2R Ag to develop the land donated by Dan N. More farming activities on the horizon.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

Bridge2Rwanda is a nonprofit organization exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accordingly, the consolidated financial statements do not reflect a provision for federal income taxes related to Bridge2Rwanda. B2R Services is organized as a for-profit corporation and is subject to income taxes in the Republic of Rwanda. B2R Services recognizes deferred tax assets and liabilities based on the differences between financial and income tax reporting basis of assets and liabilities based on enacted tax rates and laws. A valuation allowance is provided if it is more than likely than not that some or all of the deferred tax assets will not be realized. The current income tax provision estimates the tax due on the income tax returns for the year reported. Accounting standards require the Organization to evaluate tax positions and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the Organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Organization has analyzed the tax positions taken and has concluded that as of December 31, 2018, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require the recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the consolidated financial statements. The Organization may be subject to audit by the IRS; however there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.

The CD team has built strong working relationships with an extensive network of over 80 employers operating across several industry sectors in Rwanda. They also provide a variety of training and support services that instill in the B2R Scholars a confident vision of purpose, service and achievement in Africa. IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Bridge2Rwanda is a nonprofit organization exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
