“Part III Line 31 Nguzo Saba sessions are held the second Sunday of every month starting in October and ending in June of our fiscal year. During these group sessions mentees are introduced and reaffirmed skills to help them navigate through life and deal with the many mental health challenges that males face in general.One of the seven principles of Kwanzaa is the subject matter being presented and discussed associated with varying different topics. The program cost for the year was $3,887.00. Recreation sessions are held the Fourth Sunday of every month starting in October and provide the mentees an avenue to release stress and dialogue with mentors and other mentees. Building relationships and reaffirming the life skills being impacted into the group and applicable utilization of the skills. Program cost for the years was $2,149.00. Rites of Passage is our salute to all eligible seniors in our program. The ceremony is the culmination of the mentees spending several years of their lives in the Turning Point of Lansing organization as well as the symbolic transformation of Boys to Men. Program cost for the year was $4,859.00. Parent sessions coincide with the recreation session for the mentees. Parents were given a space to voice concerns and garner additional skills to deal with the challenges of raising young men in todays society. The program cost for the year was $1,828.00. Turning Point outerwear provided to the mentees consisted Blue polo shirts with the copyrighted Turning Point logo on which provides a unified look when in public. Program cost for the year was $1,609.00 Kick-off which consist of the picnic/cookout open to the public, followed two weeks later by the meet and greet which is an informational discussion about The Turning Point and a meet the Mentors. Breakout rooms to discuss the different cohorts (6-8th), (9-11th), and (12th) grades. The cost of the program was $1,430.00”
