Mission

Arts in action community charter school will inspire and prepare diverse urban students in grades k-5 to achieve college and career goals, to live healthy, fullfilling lives, and to take strategic action for a more just, humane and sustainable world. Arts in action will prepare students with critical thinking, problem solving and fundamental academic skills through an authentic, challenging, and engaging learning experience. A supportive school culture and development of social-emotional skills will equip students to handle life challenges with confidence. An overarching theme of civic awareness and action will guide the planning of arts-enriched curriculum, and principles of democracy, kindness and respect will anchor the school culture.

The school is a non-profit entity exempt from the payment of income taxes under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) and california revenue and taxation code section 23701d. Accordingly, no provision has been made for income taxes. Management has determined that all income tax positions are more likely than not of being sustained upon potential audit or examination; therefore, no disclosure of uncertain income tax positions are required. The school files informational returns in the u.s. Federal jurisdiction, and the state of california. The statute of limitations for federal and california state purposes is generally three and four years, respectively.
