FOR AMERICA CHAPTER LEADERS LED SUCCESSFUL EFFORTS TO INCLUDE RESOLUTIONS IN FIVE STATE GOP PLATFORMS (GEORGIA, WASHINGTON, KANSAS, OKLAHOMA AND NEBRASKA) THAT EITHER OPPOSED JUDICIAL USE OF FOREIGN LAW OR SHARIA LAW. HUNDREDS OF ACT! FOR AMERICA CHAPTER LEADERS AND MEMBERS LOGGED ON TO THE NATIONAL GOP PLATFORM WEBSITE IN SUPPORT OF A RESOLUTION THAT REFLECTED THE KANSAS ALAC LANGUAGE. THE RESOLUTION WAS INTRODUCED, PASSED AND INSERTED INTO THE NATIONAL GOP PLATFORM. DISTRIBUTED NEARLY 3,000 COPIES OF UNDERSTANDING THE THREAT OF RADICAL ISLAM A 60 PAGE BOOK TARGETED TO TEENAGERS. CHAPTER LEADERS DISTRIBUTED THOUSANDS OF SHARIA LAW FOR NON-MUSLIM BOOKLETS TO ELECTED OFFICIALS AND OTHER LOCAL LEADERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. CONGRESS INCLUDED AN AMENDMENT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT OF 1947 TO CREATE THE COUNTERTERRORISM COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS COUNCIL. ACT! FOR AMERICA SUPPORTED AND LOBBIED FOR THIS AMENDMENT. LOUISIANA AMENDED THE LOUISIANA RACKETEERING ACT TO APPLY IT TO ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL OFFENSES, INCLUDING MATERIAL SUPPORT FOR TERRORISM. LOUISIANA PASSED A LAW MAKING FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION A CRIME. LOUISIANA ALSO PASSED A LAW REQUIRING GREATER TRANSPARENCY IN FINANCIAL DEALINGS SUCH AS SHARIA-COMPLIANT FINANCE. ACT! FOR AMERICA GRASSROOTS EFFORTS SUPPORTED THESE CHANGES TO LOUISIANA LAW. THE COUNTERING IRAN IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE ACT WAS PASSED BY CONGRESS AND SIGNED INTO LAW IN DECEMBER, 2012. THIS WAS ON THE ACT! FOR AMERICA HIGH PRIORITY LEGISLATION LIST, AND WE LOBBIED FOR IT BOTH FROM THE GRASSROOTS AND THROUGH OUR LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON, DC. ACT! FOR AMERICA GRASSROOTS AND SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORTS HELPED LEAD TO MALALA YOUSAFZAI BEING SELECTED AS TIME MAGAZINES RUNNER-UP FOR PERSON OF THE YEAR. IN ADDITION, WE TARGETED A MAJOR BRITISH NEWSPAPER, THE GUARDIAN, AND ITS PERSON OF THE YEAR POLL. MALALA ENDED UP RECEIVING 70% OF THE VOTES ON THE FIRST VOTING DAY AND GOT SECOND PLACE OVERALL IN THE ONLINE VOTING. |
