Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Valley view haven d/b/a valley view retirement community, is a not-for-profit corporation as described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Valley view haven's mission is to provide a continuum of quality residential and long term care services in a manner demonstrating christian love and compassion. The community fulfills its mission by providing housing, health care and other related services to elderly and disabled residents through the operation of a 122-bed nursing facility ("valley view haven") along with a 95-bed personal care facility ("valley view terrace") and 116 residential living units ("valley view village") located in belleville, pennsylvania.

Valley view haven, d/b/a valley view retirement community, is a not-for-profit corporation as described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is exempt from federal income taxes on its exempt income under section 501(a) of the internal revenue code. The community provides housing, health care and other related services to elderly residents through the operation of a 122-bed nursing facility ("valley view haven") along with a 95-bed personal care facility ("valley view terrace") and 116 residential living units ("valley view village") located in belleville, pennsylvania.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The board designated endowment fund is held to earn investment earnings that can be used to provide financial assistance to residents who are unable to pay for the full cost of their care.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization follows the guidance for accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in the organization's financial statements that prescribes a recognition threshold of more-likely-than-not to be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authority. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold has been met. The guidance also addresses derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, and disclosure. Management has determined that this guidance had no material effect on the financial statements. The organization's policy is to recognize interest related to unrecognized tax benefits in interest expense and penalties in general and administrative expenses. There were no interest or penalties recognized on the statements of operations as a result of this guidance. Generally, tax returns for years ended december 31, 2013, and thereafter remain subject to examination by federal and state tax authorities.
