Residential girls-wings (women in need of greater strength)troubled teenage girls face desperate, lifelong consequences when poor choices are made and they face adjudication. A pregnant teenage girl who faces incarceration also faces the possibility that her child will be placed in care outside the family through the foster system - not a promising start for either the young woman or her baby. Amikids is one of the only a few programs nationwide that provide programs for girls, expectant girls, teen mothers and their babies. We address the needs of the youth we serve and ensure that both mom and baby are prepared to transition home.

Activity 3

Co-ed day treatment youth are referred to the program by juvenile justice agencies, school districts, and directly by the court system. Youth reside at home while in the program, allowing staff to address current issues in both their residence and neighborhood. Youth attend the program monday through friday for a period from four to twelve months year round. While in the program, evidence-based intervention models are combined with education, that address both the educational needs of the youth, along with the behavioral and mental disorders that have kept them from being productive members of their local community. Youth participate in community service projects and are taught the value of being a productive member of their local community.
