Mission

THE MISSION OF PITTSBURGH PUBLIC THEATER IS TO PROVIDE ARTISTICALLY DIVERSE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCES OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. PITTSBURGH PUBLIC THEATER ALSO STRIVES TO SERVE, CHALLENGE, STIMULATE, AND ENTERTAIN WHILE OPERATING IN A FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER. THE Pittsburgh Public Theater SHARES ITS RESOURCES WITH THE COMMUNITY THROUGH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH INITIATIVES INTENDED FOR A WIDE RANGE OF PEOPLE WITH THE GOAL OF EXPANDING AND DIVERSIFYING THE AUDIENCE WHILE ENRICHING THE COMMUNITY.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The purpose of the endowment funds is to provide annual operating support for the continued operation and growth of the pittsburgh public theater under distribution guidelines established by the board of trustees. The endowment funds are invested in four separate accounts: 1. Permanent endowment account #10260346300-established in 1997 to generate future income and offset operating costs (restricted). 2. Board endowment account #10260218840-established in 1997 (unrestricted, board designated). 3. Planned giving account #10260218860-established in 2001 as the hazlett society. These funds will provide an opportunity for long term gifts to be directed into the permanent endowment through annuities. 4. David and susan matter fund for artistic excellence account #10260218850-resolution approved in 2008 to be available for extraordinary artistic enhancements (restricted).

PART X, LINE 2:

Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require the corporation's management to evaluate tax positions taken by the corporation and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the corporation has taken a position that is uncertain. An uncertain position is defined as one in which there is a 50% or greater likelihood that the position will not be sustained upon examination by a taxing authority. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the corporation and has concluded that, as of june 30, 2014, there are no uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken. The corporation has recognized no interest or penalties related to uncertain tax positions. The corporation is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Management believes the corporation is no longer subject to income tax examinations for years prior to 2010.
