Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 1:

During 2017, the organization was required to and transferred all of its assets, subject to the organization's obligations, to a non-related entity in accordance with the court order issued by the commonwealth of massachusetts supreme judicial court. As a result of the transfer, the organization's adopted the liquidation basis of accounting for 2017. This basis of accounting is applicable when liquidation of an organization is imminent.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization evaluates tax positions taken or expected to be taken in its tax returns to determine whether the tax positions are more-likely-than-not of being sustained by the applicable tax authority. Tax positions not deemed to meet the more-likely-than-not threshold, along with accrued interest and penalty thereon would be recorded as an expense in the current year financial statements. The organization has evaluated the tax positions taken in its previously filed returns and those expected to be taken in its 2017 returns and believe they are more-likely-than-not of being sustained if examined by federal or state tax authorities. The organization's 2014 through 2016 tax years remain subject to examination by federal and state tax authorities.
