The finance committee reviews the form 990 prior to filing. The chief executive officer reviews and signs form 990. A copy of form 990 is provided to all board members.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Upon employment with christopher house all employees at all levels are expected to adhere to ethical principles set by christopher house. Staff members are given an employee handbook when hired and that handbook contains the conflict of interest policy. Employees must sign to acknowledge receipt of the handbook. The board of directors must also comply with the policy and sign acknowledgements.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Christopher house utilizes a comprehensive and contemporaneous process to substantiate compensation for its ceo on a regular basis. A wage and salary plan that utilizes comparability data from similar organizations in the local market has been completed in cooperation with an independent consultant. In addition, christopher house's governance manual defines the annual performance evaluation and salary increase determination practices. An evaluation task force makes a recommendation for any changes in compensation to the ceo based on his or her performance and christopher house's compensation policy.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

On march 11, 2020, the world health organization declared the outbreak of a respiratory disease caused by a new coronavirus a pandemic. First identified in late 2019 and now known as covid-19, the outbreak has impacted millions of individuals worldwide. In response, many countries have implemented measures to combat the outbreak that have impacted global business operations. In response to the pandemic declaration, the organization closed its charter school, child care facilities, and offices for in-person services to comply with state and local health and safety standards. Additionally, the annual gala held in april was canceled, and all other in-person fundraising events have been postponed. These disruptions in normal operations have resulted in a decrease in government, special event, and other revenue. Child care services were re-opened on-site with limited capacity on november 9, 2020, while continuing remote learning for participants not on-site. The organization continues to monitor the situation and follow the recommended health and safety laws and guidelines.

OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS, 90% OF 5 YEAR OLDS IN OUR PROGRAM HAVE ACHIEVED KINDERGARTEN-READY LEVELS IN THEIR DEVELOPMENT, AS EVIDENCED BY OUTSTANDING SCORES ON THE TEACHING STRATEGIES GOLD ASSESSMENT. IN 2010, OUR LOGAN SQUARE CENTER WAS CHOSEN AS AN INTERNATIONAL TOUR SITE BECAUSE OF ITS INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE USE OF THE ARTS-INTEGRATIVE REGGIO EMILIA CURRICULUM. FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, CHRISTOPHER HOUSE HAS SCORED 100% FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN (NAEYC) IN THE AREAS OF ASSESSMENT, TEACHING, AND PARENT/FAMILY RELATIONS. OUR LOGAN SQUARE AND UPTOWN CENTERS ARE THE ONLY CHILDCARE FACILITIES IN CHICAGO, AND 2 OF ONLY 7 FACILITIES IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF ILLINOIS, TO EARN PRESTIGIOUS 4-STAR RATINGS ON ILLINOIS QUALITY RATING SCALE (QRS).
