Upon employment with Christopher House ALL employeeS at all levels ARE EXPECTED TO adhere to ethical principles set by Christopher House. Staff MEMBERS ARE given an Employee Handbook WHEN HIRED AND THAT HANDBOOK CONTAINS THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY. EmployeeS must sign TO ACKNOWLEDGE receipt of the Handbook. The board of directors must also comply with the policy and sign ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.

FORM 990, PART VI, LINE 15: COMPENSATION REVIEW

Christopher House utilizes a comprehensive and contemporaneous process to substantiate compensation for its CEO on an annual basis. A wage and salary plan that utilizes comparability data from similar organizations in the local market has been completed in cooperation with an independent consultant. In addition, Christopher House's Governance Manual defines the annual performance evaluation and salary increase determination practices. An Evaluation Task Force makes a recommendation for any changes in compensation to the CEO based on his or her performance and Christopher House's Compensation Policy.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4: ENDOWMENT FUNDS

Permanently restricted net assets consist solely of endowment funds which have donor stipulations that the principal forever remain invested and only the income be used for the operations of christopher house.

PART X, LINE 2: ASC 740 FOOTNOTE

The latest Internal Revenue Service determination letter, dated January 28, 1974, acknowledges Christopher House as a qualified organization under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and, accordingly, it is exempt from state and federal income taxes. Christopher House does not believe there are any unrecognized tax benefits or uncertain tax positions that should be recorded. No interest or penalties were recorded or included in the consolidated statements of activities for the years ended June 30, 2016 and 2015. Should Christopher House need to accrue interest or penalties on uncertain tax positions, it would recognize the interest as interest expense and the penalties as other expenses.
