IRS990/Desc0Conservation efforts center on the Damariscotta-Pemaquid Region, encompassing eight towns. Coastal Rivers owns 60 preserves, holds 61 easements, and co-manages an additional 12 properties, together totaling more than 5,000 acres. We work in partnership with private landowners, agencies, and other non-profits. Gifts of land and conservation easements from generous donors, as well as targeted purchases, help us grow and connect our network of conserved lands for public benefit - wildlife, water quality, scenic integrity, historical preservation, and public access. With dozens of natural areas, more than 48 miles of trails, and several islands in our care and open to the public, we work hard to create new opportunities for families and individuals to get out on the land and water while respecting the precious and sometimes fragile natural resources we all enjoy and benefit from.
