Mission

The toledo community foundation, inc. Was created to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our region.

The primary exempt purpose of the organization is to enrich the quality of life in northwest ohio and southeast michigan by providing financial support to initiate programs that address the changing needs of our region.

The form 990 is prepared by our outside accountants. Much of the information is gathered and submitted to the outside tax accountants by the toledo community foundation finance department staff. Copies of the completed tax return are given to all board members with a cover memo highlighting: significant items (including public support calculations) and any changes from the previous year. The return is signed by the chairman of the board.

The organization requires an updated conflict of interest form annually; this form is reviewed internally.

The board chairman coordinates the process. All members of the board give input to the ceo's performance. Additionally, salary surveys for the field comparison of other local non-profit organizations are reviewed as part of the process. The ceo determines compensation for direct reports using many of the same tools that the board uses for the ceo review. Additionally, direct reports are given ranges to use to set compensation for the people they supervise.
