“ALL OTHER ACOMPLISHMENTS”
“Canterbury was established in May of 1969 by Myles Criss and 60 volunteer”
“singers. Criss' goal was to establish a premier classical chorus in the”
“Oklahoma City Community.”
“Today, Canterbury has 165 volunteer auditioned chorus members and is the”
“premier symphonic chorus in the state of Oklahoma; performing for the”
“Governor's inauguration, Oklahoma's Centennial celebration, and has toured”
“to France, Ireland and Austria. In 2022, Canterbury performed with Andrea”
“Bocelli on his world tour stop in Oklahoma City.”
“Canterbury's adult choral programming includes three masterwork concerts”
“per year at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City.”
“Canterbury partners with other arts organizations in the greater metro area”
“including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Ballet, Lyric”
“Theatre of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra.”
“Canterbury recently hired award-winning Conductor Dr. Julie Yu to”
“replace retiring Artistic Director Dr. Randi Von Ellefson, after 19 years”
“of service. Dr Yu's programing has a world view approach, featuring”
“composers from different eras and cultures.”
“Canterbury Youth Voices (CYV) is Canterbury's education Program, serving”
“the metropolitan area. For 27 years it has provided children in grades”
“2-12 an anchoral music education program. Though it is most affordable, we”
“have to rely on private foundations and individual donations to fund it.”
