Activity 2

Act iii (awareness changes tomorrow) - is for youth ages 14-17. The purpose of this program is to promote the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of disadvantaged youth. Ucc staff work with parents, family members and school systems to help youth achieve academic success, increase self-confidence, improve social competence within their families and cultivate community awareness and service. Assistance is also provided for homework, substance abuse prevention, conflict resolution, and gang avoidance. During the year ended march 31, 2013, the program served 171 youth.

Activity 3

Educational enrichment - is an affordable, licensed child care program for children between 4 and 13 years of age. The curriculum is research-based and is designed to help our students improve their school performance. Through a partnership with the fort worth independent school district, ucc's specially-trained teachers work to reinforce and supplement the material and skills being taught in school. In the summer of 2013 ucc collaborated with a local homeless shelter to provide the eep for their clients. In the summer months, the eep has extended hours and offers safe, fun and educational activities for children while their parents are at work. In the past year the eep served 250 school aged children and provided 80,000 hot meals and snacks.
