The organization contracts with a management company to provide office facilities, management, accounting,staffing, and support services. The associations management fee is compared to data from the asae benchmarking series publication - operatingratio report and is approved during the annual budgeting process.

The organization has members. There are 8 membership categories which include: retailer member, supplier member, suppliers representative member, associate member, retailer branch/franchisee member, supplier branch/franchisee member, affiliate member and honorary member. Only retailer, supplier, and suppliersrepresentative membership types carry voting rights.

The members of the organization elect the board of directors. All members have the right to vote annually for governing body members from a list of candidates. Candidates are proposed by the nominating committee.

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

Part x, line 2: the financial statement effects of a tax position taken or expected to be taken are recognized in the financial statements when it is more likely then not, based on the technical merits,that the position will be sustained upon examination as of july 31,2022. The association had no uncertain tax positions that qualify for recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The federal and state tax returns of the association for tax years, 2019, 2020, and 2021 are subject to examination by the internal revenue service and state taxing authorities generally for three years after they are filed.
