The trustee/officer has disclosed in good faith the conflict to the board/committee considering transaction/contract, 2. The trustee/officer may be present at the portion of the board/committee during which the transaction/contract is being discussed, however, 3. “Note 10. Collection in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america and the practice followed by many museums, the organization has elected not to include objects purchased or donated to the permanent collection in the balance sheet. It is impractical to determine a value for the permanent collection as many items are irreplaceable. Objects comprising the organization's permanent collection include the house susan b. Anthony lived in from 1866 to 1906 (a national historic landmark), photographs, memorabilia, original furniture, and other historical treasures and artifacts. Certain items, such as significant photographs and documents, are on deposit with the rare books division at the university of rochester, assuring their care and making them available to scholars. In 2016, museum staff organized and digitized 112 objects from the permanent collection and published those objects and an online exhibit called "thank you, susan b. Anthony," through the google institute. In the year ended may 31, 2016, interns from area colleges continued to survey the collection records (paper and digital) as the first phase of digitizing the entire catalogue to facilitate research and collection management with one phd candidate focusing research around the founding of the anthony museum. The collection and education committee and board of trustees studied the national standards and best practices for museums (american alliance of museums). The organization is implementing changes to bring the policies and procedures into alignment with these best practices on all levels. Many items in the collection are one-of-a-kind personal items related to the life and work of susan b. Anthony, and are often requested for loan to other institutions. A marble bust of anthony is on permanent loan to the monroe county hall of justice. The anthony museum has been collaborating with the new york state museum to provide 15-20 items to be loaned to the state for a new york suffrage centennial exhibit in 2017. Over the past few years, the organization has been restoring the house in which susan b. Anthony lived. Costs associated with restoration, including architectural planning, the physical restoration work, and furnishings, amounted to $1,821 and $6,720, for the years ended may 31, 2016 and 2015, respectively. The total cumulative restoration work amounts to approximately $1,062,000 and $1,060,000 as of may 31, 2016 and 2015, respectively.”
“The permanent endowment was established for the upkeep of gardens and grounds, conservation and care of the collection and general operations. The board designated funds were established for general operations.”
“In accordance with asc 740-15-50, the organization recognizes the tax benefits from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authorities. Management believes that the organization is currently in compliance with the applicable requirements of the internal revenue code. Therefore, no liability for unrecorded tax benefits has been included on the organization's financial statements. The exempt organization's informational returns are subject to audit by various taxing authorities.”
“Change in beneficial interest -4,027.”
“Special events expenses -63,775. Museum shop expenses -29,579.”
