The mission of methodist home for children is to promote the provision of quality services to children, youth and families through effective management, strategic planning, program development, and development and management of resources, including the selection of directors of subsidiary entities which provide such services and develop and manage resources, (such entities together with this corporation, to be called herein the "mhc system").

Officers, directors and key employees are required to disclose annually interests that could give rise to conflicts.

After input is sought from board members, the mhc board chair responds to the annual report summary of goals and objectives by conducting the annual performance evaluation with the president/chief executive officer. Following this evaluation, a review of national and state salary surveys (typically the alliance for children and families and pccyfs respectively) is conducted by the chair in consultation with board leadership to set the salary and 457 plan contributions for the coming year. Salary adjustments following annual performance reviews of the mhc vice presidents who report to the president/ceo are conducted by same with consultation sought from the board chair and other board officers, with close attention to the salary surveys for subsequent adjustments. Salary adjustments fall into three categories, but are not always changed each year: across the board cost of living adjustments for all employees (annually approved by the board human resources committee), salary adjustment according to trends and if below average, according to standard salary surveys and/or for recognition for high performance in the given year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organizations are made up of related non-profit entities as described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is exempt from federal and state income taxes. Accordingly, there is no provision for income taxes. The organizations are not aware of any activities that would jeopardize its tax-exempt status or any activities that are subject to tax on unrelated business income taxes. The organizations follow the guidance in the income tax standard regarding the recognition and measurement of uncertain tax positions. The guidance clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's financial statements. The guidance further prescribes recognition and measurement of tax provisions taken or expected to be taken on a tax return that are not certain to be realized. The application of this standard had no impact on the organizations' consolidated financial statements. The organizations' income tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal, state and local authorities.
