“Program Service Expenses 0, Grants and allocations 5,206, Revenue 13,837 MA and PA TECHNICAL GRANTS-PPF was awarded a Technology Enhancement Grant from National Networks of Libraries of Medicine in the New England Region as well as the Middle Atlantic Region for both Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, respectively. These grants were put into practice as a project across both states lasting until April 2017. The supplemental income provided for this project allowed for PPF to purchase 33 tablets, 10 mobile hotspots and 2 iPads equipping our Doulas with the mobile technology needed to provide health education to each member.”

DOULA, originated from ancient Greek, meaning a woman who serves otherwise known as a woman caregiver providing non-medical assistance before, during and after childbirth and also provides assistance to the expectant mothers partner and family. In addition, PPFs Doulas provides one-on-one non-judgmental in-home practical support, such as childbirth education, parenting skills, meal preparation, household organization, breastfeeding support and emotional support to ensure improved maternal and birth outcomes. PPFs Doulas provides assistance with locating members in which insurance companies cannot get in contact with. PPFs Doulas are HIPPA Compliant and Certified through DONA International or CAPPA with CPR Certification. PPF requires a 50 state criminal background clearance to be performed on all Doulas. PPFs unique programs are a rare collaboration between Health Insurance Companies and Doulas. PPF was the first organization to be utilized as a Third Party Doula Service for Managed Care Agencies in the country.”
“PPF concluded the month of April 2017 for Massachusetts with a free community event in Umass Medical School of Worcester, MA. This event hosted 40 attendees and was titled Perinatal Photosynthesis Module, where water symbolizes the PPF doulas and the plant symbolizes the mothers. The objective of this event was to share how PPF doulas became the instrument of the growth and empowerment of mothers throughout their pregnancy and post-pregnancy.”
“For Pennsylvania, PPF closed out April 2017 by hosting a free community event called Storytelling Through Our Voices. This event hosted 60 attendees at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital of Lansdowne, PA. The event was about mothers sharing how PPF doulas educate, empower and encourage them throughout their pregnancy and postpartum experience. The event was sponsored by the National Library of Medicine. During this event, PPF was recognized by the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania and the Office of the Mayor, Yeadon Borough, as an inspiring and heartwarming program that promises to help countless women and families in the years to come.”
“In May 2017, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, New England Region awarded PPF a grant for WIC Tour. While announced in 2017, the tour will take place in year 2018. The WIC Tours will enable PPF to inform other organizations about the Doula By Side Program as well as help these organizations to reach out to more mothers in need of doula services.”
“In July 2017, PPF held a Doula Retreat at Sun-Vu Resort 427 Fortsville Rd, Gansevoort, NY 12831. There was 10 participants during this retreat where Doulas did a presentation to share their knowledge with their peers. There were also games to promote bonding and team work.”
“In August 2017, PPF attended the Worcester Health Baby Collaborative WHBC which PPF served as part of the Advisory Board. This event helped other organizations and the community learn about the PPF Doula By My Side Program. Also, this event helped PPF gained more knowledge on the resources that can be used to serve our MA members”
“In September 2017, PPF attended the Worcester Infant Mortality Summit. This event was composed of Healthcare Experts Speakers sharing knowledge on how to decrease the infant mortality rate in Worcester. This event helped PPF gained more knowledge and tools that is helpful to doula services.”
“In October 2017, PPF attended an event in Rhode Island. The event was titled RI Baby Shower, held in Wakefield, RI. The objective of the event was to help moms, moms to be and families to be ready for the coming of a beautiful baby. PPF gave away items that were essential to the needs of the mothers and baby. PPF, also attended an event in Massachusetts. The event titled Massachusetts Mom and Baby Expo was presented by Root and Sprout. The Massachusetts Mom and Baby Expo was a celebration of new moms, moms to be, babies and families in Central Massachusetts. It was also a chance to learn about all the wonderful resources, services and products available to help in having a healthy pregnancy, birth and new parenting experience.”
“In December 2017, PPF purchased a new location, 11 Owen Avenue, Lansdowne, PA 19050. The new location will allow PPF to expand its Mission and Goal. It will encompass on-site group support, breastfeeding support, newborn care classes, NICU support, Childbirth Education and many more. It will help strengthen the moms and moms to be with parenting skills, breastfeeding knowledge, newborn care skills, and much more.”

PPF also assists expectant mothers through out their pregnancies. In 2017 PPF received 192 referrals from HP, 49 opted-out from the service because they have enough support system. PPF assisted 143 HP members, 81 were high risk expectant mothers on bed rest starting at 17 weeks. These mothers successfully carry to at least 37 weeks or full term with help of PPF Doula Program. 62 members were received during postpartum. PPF provided these members with one on one non-judgmental in home practical support, such as breastfeeding, childbirth education, parenting skills, meal preparation and household organization. PPF also assisted these members with their prenatal, WIC, Dental and Behavioral Health appointments. |

PPFs unique programs are a rare collaboration between Health Insurance Companies and Doulas. PPF was the first organization to be utilized as a Third Party Doula Service for Managed Care Agencies in the country. |
