Prior to final publication and filing of form 990, an approval draft prepared by the accounting firm is reviewed by the finance committee consisting of the organizations treasurer, board members, executive director, finance director, an independent community finance person, and a member representative of the accounting firm for resolution. Upon resolution of any such items, the 990 is approved for final publication and is presented to the treasurer for signature and filing and copies of the final return are distributed to all board members.

Form 990, Part XII, Line 2C

A draft of the audited financial statements is first reviewed by the finance committee. As part of that process, the finance committee meets with a representative of the accounting firm that audited the financial statements to resolve any questions the committee might have. Once all questions are resolved, the committee votes to recommend board approval of the audited financial statements. Board members also have the opportunity to review and resolve any questions they might have prior to voting to accept the audited financial statements.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Lhop is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue service code, as well as from pennsylvania state corporate taxes. Lhop adheres to the provisions of fasb asc 740, income taxes. Asc 740 establishes rules for recognizing and measuring tax positions taken in an income tax return, including disclosures of uncertain tax positions (utps). Asc 740 mandates that companies evaluate all material income tax positions for periods that remain open under applicable statutes of limitation, as well as positions expected to be taken in future returns. The utp rules then impose a recognition threshold on each tax position. A company can recognize an income tax benefit only if the position has a "more likely than not" (i.e., more than 50 percent) chance of being sustained on the technical merits. For the years ended june 30, 2015 and 2014, lhop has taken no material tax positions on its applicable tax filings that do not meet the more likely than not threshold. As a result, no amount for uncertain tax positions has been included in the financial statements. Lhop believes it is no longer subject to income tax examinations for fiscal years prior to the year ended june 30, 2012.
