Fairmount park conservancy exists to champion philadelphia's parks. We lead capital projects and historic preservation efforts, foster neighborhood park stewardship, attract and leverage philanthropic support, and develop innovative programs throughout the 10,200 acres that include fairmount park and more than 100 neighborhood parks around the city. Philadelphia has one of the largest urban park systems in the world, providing residents with extensive health, environmental, social, economic and cultural benefits.
The fairmount park conservancy works as a collaborative partner to lead (cont'd in sch o)and support efforts which preserve and improve the fairmount park system in order to enhance the quality of life and stimulate economic development of the greater philadelphia region.

U.s. Gaap requires management to evaluate tax positions taken and recognize a tax liability, if the conservancy has taken an uncertain tax position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by a government authority. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the conservancy and has concluded that as of december 31, 2024 and 2023, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability or disclosure in the financial statements. The conservancy recognizes accrued interest and penalties associated with uncertain tax positions, if any. There were no income tax related interest and penalties recorded for the year ended december 31, 2024 or 2023.”

IN 2024 AS PART OF THE NATURE PHASE, THE CONSERVANCY CREATED A $1M HUMMOCK AND HOLLOW WETLAND, WHICH IS CONTRIBUTING TO CARBON SEQUESTRATION AND INCREASED BIODIVERSITY. THE CONSERVANCY CONTINUED TO WORK WITH THE DESIGN TEAM ON OTHER PROJECTS IN THE NATURE PHASE, DEVELOPING THE SITE DESIGNS AND COORDINATING WITH REGULATORY AGENCIES TO STREAMLINE PERMITTING AND APPROVALS IN THE COMING YEAR.WEST FAIRMOUNT PARK: THE CONSERVANCY CONTINUED TO ENGAGE COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN THE CENTENNIAL DISTRICT LANDSCAPE IN 2024 THROUGH TWO COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS FOR THE WELSH FOUNTAIN GARDENS PROJECT, WHICH WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT GATEWAY INTO WEST FAIRMOUNT PARK. THIS PROJECT WILL RETURN THE WELSH FOUNTAIN TO ITS FORMER GLORY AND CREATE FOUR GARDENS SURROUNDING THE FOUNTAIN THAT WILL OFFER AREAS FOR ACTIVE PLAY AND PASSIVE ENJOYMENT OF THE PARK. THE DESIGN TEAM FOR THE WELSH FOUNTAIN GARDENS COMPLETED THE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE, ADVANCING THE PROJECT DESIGN TO INCORPORATE COMMUNITY FEEDBACK, INCLUDING: INTERACTIVE WATER/PLAY FEATURES FOR FAMILIES, INTERGENERATIONAL SPACES, ARTWORK, AND TEMPORARY ACTIVATION AND EVENT SPACE. BOATHOUSE ROW LIGHTS: IN MARCH OF 2024, THE CONSERVANCY AND PARKS & REC HOSTED THE OFFICIAL BOATHOUSE ROW RELIGHTING CEREMONY. THE $2.1 MILLION PROJECT COMPLETELY REPLACED THE OUTDATED, FAILING LIGHTING SYSTEM, WHICH STRUGGLED WITH SIGNIFICANT CONNECTIVITY CHALLENGES, REGULAR POWER OUTAGES, AND MOUNTING ISSUES. MODERNIZING THE SYSTEM WITH NEW LED LIGHTS AND DURABLE HOUSING BOXES TO PROTECT IT FROM WEATHER AND WILDLIFE NOT ONLY RESTORED THE ROW'S ENCHANTING AMBIANCE, BUT HAS ALSO CREATED EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE MAINTENANCE THROUGH REVENUE-GENERATING LIGHTING PARTNERSHIPS. |
