Activity 2

The center also provides outreach programs based on the assessed needs of the community. In 2006, the center began an ethics in business award program honoring businesses and organizations that stand apart in their dedication to corporate social responsibility. The nominees go through a rigorous selection process and the recipients are announced at the annual award event. The event is now in conjunction with an educational forum that the center sponsors in partnership with the lancaster chamber of commerce.in 2007, the center began the milagro house counseling project. Milagro house is a long-term shleter for homeless women and their children. The samaritan counseling center provides professional counseling services, both individual therapy and group therapy, to the women and children residing at the west chestnut street house.

Activity 3

In addition to counseling, the samaritan counseling center provides education, consultation, and training to clergy and churches through its clergy and congregation care program, which is a part of the collaborative effort with other samaritan centers in the mid-atlantic region. Other education and consultation services are also available from both the center's clinical and program staff.the samaritan counseling center has developed a program to guide a group of congregations through a one year safe church process for protection of children and youth from child sexual abuse. This process involves developing a comprehensive policy and best practices while also being the means to cultural change in the congregation and by extension the broader community in which congregants live and work.
