| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc | 0 | PHILADELPHIA PARKS & RECREATION (PPR) ALONG WITH THE PHILADELPHIA INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (PIDC), AS PART OF THE GREEN2015 ACTION PLAN, HAVE IDENTIFIED PARCELS OF LAND ALONG THE WESTERN BANK OF THE SCHUYLKILL RIVER, IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO PPR'S HISTORIC BARTRAM'S GARDEN. THESE PARCELS WILL PROVIDE OVER A MILE AND A HALF OF PUBLICALLY ACCESSIBLE RIVERFRONT ACCESS. THIS WOULD HELP TO ADVANCE KEY GREENING RECOMMENDATIONS MADE IN THE GREEN2015 ACTION PLAN. IN ADDITION, ONCE ACQUIRED, THE SCHUYLKILL RIVER TRAIL (SRT) WILL BE EXTENDED FROM BARTRAM'S GARDEN ALONG THE RIVERFRONT AND A CONNECTION WILL BE MADE TO THE 58TH STREET GREENWAY PORTION OF THE EAST COAST GREENWAY (ECG). PPR IS COMMITTED TO MAKING CONNECTIONS FROM THIS SITE BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY VIA 58TH STREET GREENWAY, WHICH PROVIDES ACCESS TO COBBS CREEK RECREATION TRAIL AND THE ECG. IN ADDITION, THESE CHANGES WOULD ADVANCE BARTRAM'S MILE AS A PREMIER DESTINATION WITH MULTIPLE UNIQUE PUBLIC SPACES, WONDERFUL VIEWS/HORTICULTURE, AND CONNECTIONS TO RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND THE RIVER. GOALS INCLUDE:PHASE 1 OF BARTRAM'S MILE TRAIL AND PARK OPENED BY 12/31/15.WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF OPENING, BARTRAM'S MILE ACHIEVES VISIBILITY AS A SAFE AND UNIQUE DESTINATION FOR LOCAL AND CITYWIDE RESIDENTS, AS DOCUMENTED BY USER COUNTS AND INTERCEPT SURVEYS. COORDINATED EVENT CALENDAR ESTABLISHED BETWEEN PHILADELPHIA PARKS AND RECREATION, BARTRAM'S GARDEN, AND SCHUYLKILL RIVER DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. FINAL DESIGN LEVERAGED FOR LARGER FUNDS TO RE-DESIGN BARTRAM'S GARDEN ENTRYWAY AND POTENTIAL REHABILITATION OF BOTANIC AVENUE SITE.VISITATION TO BARTRAM'S GARDEN BY RESIDENTS OF BARTRAM'S VILLAGE AND OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE GARDEN INCREASED BY 30%. |
