The lewisburg listening post is dedicated to offering a strong and positive social support system to all of the students in the schools it serves by providing professional-supported, trained, and caring near-peer counselors (recruited from local universities) to the students as positive role models, mentors, and tutors. The lewisburg listening post and its near-peer counselors promote overal wellness, development of problem-solving and decision-making skills, and provide primary prevention by identifying serious issues and making referrals to guidance counselors.

The lewisburg listening post's mentoring staff provided support and services to a grand total of 374 students during 2,396 visits by these students -- an overall average of 6 visits per student during the school year.
