Activity 2

Buildings - families at pec start out in our housing at gloria's place, where, once they are initially stabilized, they begin to address many of the underlying problems that may have led to their homelessness. Our emergency housing offers seven dormitory rooms with common bathrooms, a cafeteria, visitor's lounge, library, and computer lab. Families receive food, clothing, healthcare, school supplies, and books. Play spaces create a welcoming enviroment where children can learn and thrive. As families in our emergency shelter acquire core life skills as a result of the social service programs offered, they are eligibleto move to one of our eleven single-family transitional housing rooms in our main facility, at 3902 spring garden street. The benefits of increased privacy and their own bathroom come with more financial responsibility, which helps prepare families for independent living.each family that graduates from pec's transitional housing into permanent housing receives case management for a full year, including guidance in running a household and being a good neighbor, assistance with finding, keeping, and advancing in a job, and follow-up services for healthcare, mental healthcare, childcare, and drug and alcohol problems.

Activity 3

Community developement - the community developement program is the real estate arm of pec. On its own, or through contractual relationships, peccdc acquires, sells, rents, rehabilitates, and manages properties in the west philadelphia community in which pec carries out its programs and services. West philadelphia communities are strengthened through projects that expand housing oppurtunities, stimulate economic growth, create wealth and improve the quality of life for all residents.
