Form 990 Part III, Line 1

The blood center delivers quality products and services on time to all customers, internal and external. We provide our employees with training and resources to meet or exceed customer requirements. We monitor our processes and products to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. In continuing pursuit of total quality, the following mission statement guides us: 1.provide a safe and adequate blood supply and quality community services in response to the changing needs of our customers. 2.be an active member of the community, by providing community education and becoming involved in community activities beyond our core business. 3.provide a safe and secure environment. 4.treat employees with respect and dignity, through recognition of their merit. 5.believe that participation in the management process and teamwork are our core operational values. We must treat each other with trust and respect. 6.provide fair and adequate compensation based on the impact and extent of job task. 7.operate in a cost-effective manner to provide resources for continued growth.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

No provision for income taxes has been made in the financial statements since the organization is exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and similar state provisions. However, income from activities not directly related to the organization's tax-exempt purpose, if any, would be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. The organization complies with the guidance for uncertainty in income taxes using the provisions of fasb asc 740, income taxes. Using that guidance, tax positions initially need to be recognized in the financial statements when it is more-likely-than-not the position will be sustained upon examination by tax authorities.
