“Prabhjot singh and harpreet singh, both board members, are brothers. Narinder singh, board chair, is the brother-in-law of prabhjot singh and harpreet singh.”

“Updates to by-laws are as follows: section 2. Classes, number, tenure, and qualifications. The board of trustees of the sikh coalition shall consist of two classes of trustees: (i) founding trustees; and (ii) governing trustees (collectively, "trustees"). There shall be three (3) founding trustees, and as many as (11) governing trustees. Founding trustees will have a six (6) year term of office and shall be elected exclusively by a majority vote of the founding trustees then in office; provided that, for the sake of clarity, the initial founding trustees shall consist of (1) prabhjot singh (2) suneet kaur and (3) harpreet singh. Governing trustees will have a three (3) year term of office, and will be elected by a majority vote of all the trustees then in office; provided however, that in order to be so elected a majority of the founding trustees then in office must also vote in the affirmative to elect such a governing trustee. Each trustee shall hold office until the expiration of the term for which he or she was elected and until his or her sucessor is elected and qualified, or unitl his or her earlier death, resignation or removal. Except for the manner in which founding trustees and governing trustees are elected or removed, the respective differences in terms of classes of trustees, and the required approvals of the founding trustees to amend the certificate of incorporation or bylaws of the sikh coalition, all as set forth in these bylaws, there shall be no distinction in the rights, privileges, obligations or duties of founding trustees and governing trustees.”

“A copy of the form 990 is emailed to all board members for their review and comment prior to its filing.”

“Each board member is required to disclose potential conflicts immediately. Policy compliance monitoring is conducted collectively by the board and executive director through their knowledge of the policy and the requirement that potential conflicts be disclosed immediately for discussion and review.”

“The compensation committee meets independently of the executive director. The committee utilizes competent and industry specific surveys and reports in order to benchmark salary limits. They discuss performance relative to position and any feedback received from outside parties. They determine an adequate salary and/or raise for the executive director in line with the benchmarks derived. The committee presents its findings to the board for approval. The committee or board chair meets with the executive director to discuss and document performance, strengths, weaknesses, goals and compensation.”
