“The Form 990 is reviewed by the President, CFO and Controller at Maine Public. In addition, the Board of Trustees' Finance Committee reviews and approves the Form 990 and the entire Board of Trustees receives a copy for review prior to its filing.”

Each Board member and officer completes and signs the questionnaire, which is then kept on file. The Employee Handbook specifically addresses conflict of interest concerns in regards to employees being related to each other and working at the same job and employees working at second jobs outside of Maine Public.”

“During this period, Maine Public undertook additional services and programming to serve Maine in new capacities. When the federal government and the State of Maine declared COVID-19 a national and state disaster, Maine Public, in partnership with MEMA and the Governor's office, immediately built a studio in the MEMA facility to facilitate Maine CDC and Governor Mills briefings to the citizens of Maine. Maine Public provided a "pool feed" to all other broadcasters in the state for these updates. These CDC briefings appear when they are held on Maine Public Radio, Maine Public Television, and online. Maine Public launched The Learning Space, an educational program designed to provide Maine students in grades 3 through 5 with little or no access to online learning opportunities with educational lessons aired each weekday on Maine Public Television. The equivalent of 90 classrooms watched each episode of The Learning Space. Maine Public created several diverse online experiences including: concerts, forums, cooking challenges, and museum access. All to provide Mainers remaining at home with entertainment and educational experiences that are free and easily accessible. Maine Public launched Maine Public News Connect: a new initiative where Maine Public translates important news and information each week into French, Spanish, Somali, and Portuguese video pods for immigrant communities in Maine. This initiative is in response to a direct need in immigrant communities across Maine for news and information to keep new Mainers better informed about what is going on in Maine and the world around them. Maine Public created special experiences that our audience could attend/experience/participate virtually: music concerts, cooking challenges, lectures, and museum tours, among other experiences.”

“Maine Public has administrative offices and production facilities for television, radio and web services in Lewiston, Bangor, Augusta and Portland. The station's transmitters and translators, located throughout the state deliver programs to nearly all of Maine's citizens. The Organization employs 101 full time and part time people. Maine Public is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees which include the President of Maine Public, a gubernatorial appointee, a University System appointee and up to 24 Community Members from across the State. The Board meets a minimum of four times a year and all meetings are open to the public. Maine Public has a volunteer community advisory board (CAB) with membership reflecting the diversity of the State and Maine Public's listeners, viewers and supporters. The purpose of the CAB is to advise the Board of Trustees and Maine Public staff as to whether the programming and other policies of Maine Public meet the needs of the communities that the station serves. The CAB meets twice a year, and its meetings are also open to the public. Maine Public's revenues come from voluntary contributions from over 53,000 individual supporters, as well as underwriting support from businesses and nonprofit organizations. Additional funding is received through an annual appropriation from the State of Maine and from television and radio community service grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.”
