Activity 2

Workforce development - community servings' food service job training program offers a 12-week curriculum for individuals facing barriers to employment, including basic cooking skills, nutrition, food safety and job readiness skills. In addition to attending classes, trainees work in our kitchen in a hands-on role, helping to prepare our meals while building their skill level and self-esteem. In fy 2013, we held four training classes with 41 enrollees.

Activity 3

Social enterprise - community servings markets its meals to other nonprofits serving disadvantaged populations as a social enterprise venture, including local schools and senior programs that look to us to provide appetizing meals to their students and clients. The revenue earned through the social enterprise goes directly to provide more meals to our critically ill clients. In fy 2013, we provided meals to five local schools, senior meals-on-wheels program, and six summer food sites.
