Activity 2

Education: preservation buffalo niagara established a speakers program for the public, led by the executive director, and presented to numerous groups in the buffalo niagara community. The introduction of the "buffalo talks" speaker series featured a variety of presenters on different preservation topics. The preservation plus conference, hosted by preservation buffalo niagara, focused on the intersection of planning, sustainability, and community revitalization as integral principles and values of historic preservation. The conference attracted attendees from beyond the local region. The preservation in the field program provided direct services to municipalities, organizations, and property owners across the wider region, with emphasis on technical assistance regarding building restoration and qualifying for historic tax credit programs offered at the state and federal level.

Activity 3

Advocacy: preservation buffalo niagara established a program of preservation advocacy in the buffalo niagara region, with a special focus on the cities of buffalo, niagara falls, lackawanna and the town of elma. The executive director, director of operations and a member of the board of trustees worked to coordinate this region-wide effort. As their official partner, the organization works closely with the national trust for historic preservation, the preservation league of new york state, as well as with the state historic preservation office, and partners frequently with other organizations, municipalities and neighborhood groups. The office receives calls daily for assistance on an extensive array of preservation matters.
