NEC institutions ranked amoung the nation's elite in Graduation Success Rate (GSR) figures released by the NCAA with 36 teams achieving a perfect 100 percent GSR in their respective sports and over 50 percent overall earning a GSR of over 90 percent. The NEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting in Hershey, PA where it also participated in a community service project in support of the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation. The NEC awarded its "Building Communities" award to Sacred Heart University for the fifth time in six years. This award recognizes the NEC institution that demonstrates the highest dedication to making an impact in their local community through the efforts of its student-athletes, coaches and administrators. Overall, NEC institutions contributed nearly 28,000 hours of service time within their local communities last year. The NEC honored 22 teams - one for each sport the NEC sponsors - for their commitment to sportsmanship last season as part of its annual team sportsmanship awards program. This initiative recognizes those teams who best adhere to the principles of sportsmanship and are recognized for pursuing victory with honor in their respective sports.
