In furtherance of its own tax-exempt purposes, Yankee Alliance, Inc provides management services to related entities, which allow for transformational learning by connecting, collaborating and communicating activities through best practices applications and knowledge transfer initiatives to improve hospital operations and performance.

Activity 3

Yankee Alliance, Inc. provides funds in the form of annual grants to its tax-exempt member hospitals. The Organization was created to foster joint programs and ventures among its not-for-profit hospital members. The grant program helps to fund programs or projects that improve the quality of patient care, expand medical and health related services offered by member institutions, and/or lower the costs of services being provided by member institutions. Grant recipients are expected to share their "lessons learned" with the greater membership. During FY 11, Yankee Alliance, Inc. also made grants in support of its tax-exempt hospital members as follows:Hospital Breakthrough Series Collaborative - Yankee Alliance made grants to Yankee Alliance Supply Chain Cooperative, Inc. in order to provide services to patron-hospitals in multiple areas that serve to improve clinical processes and reduce supply chain expense (purchasing) without negatively impacting the quality of patient care. Patron-hospitals work together to identify and implement supply chain cost savings through peer group networking and information sharing. These programs bring patron-hospitals together to enable members to collaborate on best practices (clinical and supply chain) and to learn how to implement both clinical and operational (supply chain) best practices. Yankee members that participated in the Orthopedics and Cardiovascular services were able to document savings of approximately $2,172,000 in the fiscal year ended 6/30/2011 plus an additional $16,443,000 of related savings for implementation in fiscal year 6/30/2012Demand Data Services - Yankee Alliance provided a grant to Yankee Alliance Supply Chain Cooperative for the entrance into the Demand Data Services Program.
