Grassrootshealth's mission is to help solve the worldwide vitamin d deficiency epidemic through a worldwide nutrient field trial with education programs such as the d*action project, a consumer based education and testing of vitamin d levels. There are also programs in medical groups and hospitals which include education (continuing education courses for medical professionals) to help change the standard of care for all patients to get vitamin d tests and provide education to better their health. Grassrootshealth also does extensive nutrient field trials with other nutrients, to analyze the impact of many nutrients on people's health and their interactions. The organization has a panel of 48 vitamin d researchers from around the world, providing ongoing guidance about the scientific backbone of the education, and they participate in the publication of peer reviewed journals of findings from the groups.
