“Clean water: protect oregon's rivers from the columbia to the rogue, oregon's has some of the most stunning rivers in the country. Unfortunately, loopholes in the clean water act left 61,000 miles of oregon's streams, which feed and filter our rivers, vulnerable to pollution. In fy 2015, environment oregon helped build support for an epa rule that would restore clean water act protections to all of our waterways. Key activities include enlisting over 30,000 oregonians to weigh-in with the epa, meeting with members of congress, and releasing two reports highlighting the problem of pollution in our waterways. The obama administration approved the epa rule to close these clean water act loopholes in may of fy 2015. Preservation: protect crater lake the woods and waters that surround crater lake are home to bald eagles, black bears, wolves, and roosevelt elk. However, much of the habitat is under threat from bulldozers, backhoes, and chainsaws. Around the park, logging companies are pushing to clear-cut thousands of acres of forest- land that shelters the headwaters to the rouge and umpqua rivers, which are critical for maintaining healthy runs of coho and chinook salmon. In response to these threats, environment oregon is calling on congress to create the crater lake wilderness, a 75-mile, nearly half-million acre wildlife corridor that would connect existing wilderness areas, enhance protection for crater lake, and prohibit logging, mining, and other forms of destructive development. In fy 2015, environment oregon collected 2,000 petitions directed to sen. Ron wyden asking him to permanently protect crater lake as a wilderness area, talked with over 10,000 oregonians about this issue face-to-face, on the phone, and through email.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | CLEAN WATER: PROTECT OREGON'S RIVERS FROM THE COLUMBIA TO THE ROGUE, OREGON'S HAS SOME OF THE MOST STUNNING RIVERS IN THE COUNTRY. RON WYDEN ASKING HIM TO PERMANENTLY PROTECT CRATER LAKE AS A WILDERNESS AREA, TALKED WITH OVER 10,000 OREGONIANS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FACE-TO-FACE, ON THE PHONE, AND THROUGH EMAIL. |
