Mission

To help prevent cyber-attacks and improve cyber-security.

The purpose of the us-ccu is to investigate what sorts of cyber-attacks are actually possible and what their consequences would be, to provide this information and analysis to the relevant industries and government departments, to offer tools for improving cyber-security to cyber-security professionals in america and abroad, and to disseminate reliable information about cyber-security to the media and the general public.

DURING 2015, THE US-CCU CARRIED OUT A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF ALL THE CYBER-SECURITY DEFENSES CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY CORPORATIONS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. THIS RESULTED IN A LIST OF OVER A THOUSAND CYBER-SECURITY MEASURES THAT CAN BE USED TO PREVENT CYBER ATTACKERS FROM ACHIEVING THEIR OBJECTIVES. THE US-CCU IDENTIFIED WHICH OF THESE MEASURES THAT ARE CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF PIONEERING ORGANIZATIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SHOWN TO BE EFFECTIVE. IT ALSO ADDED A FEW MEASURES THAT HAVE NOT YET BEEN PUT INTO PRACTICE, BUT THAT WERE DEMONSTRATED TO BE EFFECTIVE IN TEST ENVIRONMENTS. THE RESULTING LIST OF SECURITY MEASURES WAS THEN ORGANIZED USING A NEW AND MORE PRACTICAL STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK. THIS MASSIVE RESEARCH EFFORT WILL RESULT IN A POWERFUL, NEW CYBER-SECURITY TOOL, WHICH THE US-CCU WILL MAKE AVAILABLE FOR FREE IN 2016.
