Mission

West Seattle Garden Tour annual net proceeds are donated as cash grants to local registered 501c3 organizations help advance our mission, which is to promote horticultural based interests, education and artistic endeavors within West Seattle and neighboring communities. In 2024 our grant funds were paid to eleven organizations that met our mission.

West Seattle Garden Tour annual net proceeds are donated as cash grants to local registered 501c3 organizations help advance our mission, which is to promote horticultural based interests, education and artistic endeavors within West Seattle and neighboring communities. Each of the 7 project for 2015 includes one or more of these elements.

Solid Ground, a 501(c) 3 organization presents Lettuce Link, a hunger mitigation program which increases local access to fresh food from P-Patch gardens and 2 local farms, as they engage a culturally diverse community with food gardening, cooking and nutrition classes. Connects with 300 children and 200 volunteers, and provides 2000 lbs of produce to food banks each year. Project will pay for soil, compost, seeds and tools for Lettuce Link. Arts West, a 501c3 org that provides live theater, promotes local artists and musicians, holds 4 summer theater workshops for children. West Seattle Farmers Market, 501(c)(3),organizes a weekly local market for farms and orchards selling fresh produce on a street. Volunteers in the Master Gardeners booth offer advice about gardening, growing and preparing fresh food. SW Seattle Historical Society 501(c) (3) promotes local heritage through education, preservation and advocacy. City Fruit, 501(c)(3) promotes the cultivation of urban fruit to nourish people, build community and protect the climate. They help tree owners grow and harvest healthy fruit , as well as harvesting, collecting and donating unused fruit from public spaces to local food banks. This project includes public education on fruit tree care, and working with volunteers to get an accurate inventory of harvestable fruit in our West Seattle neighborhoods.
