Mission

Promote awareness and educate the public in order to keep kids safein both the online and offline worlds.

Major Activities

radKIDS - INOBTR sought and received funding from the Emerson Charitable Trust to add a new program to its Child Safety roster. radKIDS (Resisting Aggression Defensively) is the leading national Child Safety and Empowerment Program focusing on all manner of child safety, including: home, school, vehicle, out and about, drug, Internet, and fire safety with an emphasis on bullying, abuse and abduction prevention. After application to the National radKIDS organization, and acceptance, INOBTR recruited, organized and hosted training for 14 individuals to become certified radKIDS instructors. These instructors will be the core group, under INOBTR, to introduce radKIDS to the greater St. Louis area in 2013. The program requires the use of many supplies and equipment and most of these items were sourced and obtained in 2012. INOBTR began the process of contacting schools and other organizations to discuss the implementation of the radKIDS program in 2013.

INOBTR continues to increase efforts on the website and averaged 7300+ visitors per month with over 14,000 hits monthly (both figures twice the 2011 numbers). INOBTR took part in over 32 engagements or events reaching over 11,000 children and parents; taking part in events like Child Safety Day in the Loop, Ameren Safety Day, St. Louis Public Schools back to school event, and Internet Safety Night at the Ballpark with the St. Louis Cardinals.

IRS990/Description0PROJECT YOUTH SAFETY -OFFICE OF JUVENILE JUSTICE & DELIQUENCY PREVENTION PROMOTING CHILD & YOUTH SAFETY -This two-year Federal program promotes community initiatives and public awareness by helping communities to develop and implement demonstration projects that promote child and youth safety. INOBTR organized and implemented Public Awareness Campaigns with the 6 agencies chosen by OJJDP to promote youth safety: Denver Child Advocacy Center, (Child Abuse in Bi-lingual Homes, Denver, CO), iKeepSafe (Cell Phone Safety, Monroe County, Rochester, NY), Children's Institute (Child Abuse/Domestic Violence, LA County, CA), HEART Project (Adolescent Relationship Abuse/Teen Dating Violence, Berkeley & Sacramento, CA), Youth Network Council (Homeless & Runaway Youth, Chicago, IL) and Merced Lao Family Community (Child Abuse in the Hmong Community, Merced County, CA). Each campaign was tailored to the specific community project or intervention program involved, reaching the broadest possible audience at the most effective time. INOBTR completed all of the awareness campaigns and added a 7th campaign with the Child Advocacy Services of Greater St. Louis (CASGSL) adopting the campaign materials from Denver (Child Abuse in the home). For each campaign, INOBTR worked with the local non-profit partner, advertising agency and experts to create a campaign toolbox of materials able to be replicated in other communities. In conjunction with this initiative, INOBTR maintains www.projectyouthsafety.org which supports all six programs. Through Project Youth Safety, INOBTR hosted Child Safety Night with the St. Louis Cardinals in September. INOBTR teamed up with local child safety advocates including: MO- Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Family Resource Center, Homeland Security, Secret Service, CASGSL, and the United States Attorney's Office of Eastern MO. Through frugal use of the award funding, the Campaign has been extended through 2013.
